Cheng
Based in Beijing, China. I’m a queer, independent jewelry designer, trained in Animation at CAFA (Central Academy of Fine Arts) from 2015 to 2019 before turning to jewelry in 2019 as a self-taught designer focused on wearable objects.
Rooted in queer bodily narratives, I handle the full creative workflow — concept development, 3D modelling, FDM printing, and post-production metal finishing. This body of work was born from my coming-out journey with family, and explores self-identity through object-making.
Centered on phallic forms, the earrings reimagine everyday piercings with a quiet, sensual edge. After coming out, I pierced my ears as a personal act of courage — no longer hiding my queer identity. The series comprises earrings, ear cuffs, and silver rings, made from sterling silver and stainless steel, using 3D modelling, FDM 3D printing, and metal polishing and surface finishing.
