Gala Atehortua

Gala Atehortua

I am Gala Atehortúa, and my work is an open wound that dances. I illustrate, model and sculpt; I blend pigment and pixel to speak about us: about bodies that don’t fit, about the bodies that slip away from order, about the skins that invent their own tomorrow. I draw against the colony that still breathes in our bones. I work from desire, from what is crooked, from the rage that is also love. My characters do not imitate the real: they contradict it, rewrite it, and smear it with life. Every stroke, every digital sculpture, is a way of breaking the genealogy of gender. A way of saying: here I am, mutating, giving birth to a possible body. I believe in art as a spell. In the image as thinking flesh. In the trans as a future that is already unfolding, moving, breathing, naming itself in the plural. I do not seek beauty: I dismantle it, remake it, and make it ours again.
