Lucky Hole is a photographic record of Tokyo’s underground entertainment culture by Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki.
Born in Tokyo, Araki documented the nightlife and adult entertainment scene of Shinjuku during the late 1970s and early 1980s, capturing the people, spaces, and atmosphere of a rapidly changing urban culture. Featuring more than 800 photographs, the book combines documentary observation with Araki’s distinctive sense of humour, poetry, and visual experimentation.
