Banana Magazine #7
A NYC magazine celebrating contemporary Asian culture—with a name that winks at anyone who’s ever been lovingly called a “banana.” For many first-generation Asians raised in Western spaces, the term has become a badge of identity rather than an insult, and this publication embraces that spirit fully.
In this 156 pages issue, we dive into the expanding world of Asian representation across American reality TV. Our eight-part series spotlights talent from a wide range of unscripted genres, featuring voices like Crystal Kung Minkoff of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kim Chi of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Amrit Kapai of Family Karma, and others who each bring their own perspective to the evolving cultural conversation.
The issue also highlights Brooklyn-based artist Justin Yoon, who created an original artwork that inspired this edition’s cover.
