Toilet paper magazine #18
TOILETPAPER is an artists’ magazine created in Milan, Italy, by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari—an altar to the shared passion and obsession that drives their work: images.
Each image originates from a simple idea that, through a complex orchestration of people and production, becomes the materialization of the artists’ mental outbursts. Since its first issue in June 2010, TOILETPAPER has contained no text, instead merging the visual language of commercial photography with twisted narrative tableaux and a deliberately troubling imagination.
The result is a world of ambiguous narratives and surreal imagery, presented in a format that functions simultaneously as a magazine and a standalone work of art. Through wide distribution, TOILETPAPER challenges the boundaries of contemporary visual culture and prevailing value systems.
