Benjamin Fredrickson presents his first book, a photographic project developed over four years that explores a distinct subculture through staged and collaborative portraiture.
Working from an insider perspective, Fredrickson engages directly with his subjects, many of whom connect through online communities. The images emphasize participation, trust, and collaboration, capturing moments shaped by tension, form, and visual composition.
Photographed primarily from a singular point of view, the series highlights the relationship between fabric, movement, and the body, with subjects often remaining anonymous and turned away from the camera. The work focuses on structure, gesture, and the expressive potential of the human form.
Based in New York City and originally from Minneapolis, Fredrickson is known for documenting underground communities through a considered and participatory approach. This publication marks his first book.
