Wedgies

Wedgies is artist Baron’s debut book, featuring a photographic series by Benjamin Fredrickson that documents the wedgie subculture. Created over four years, the project presents male subjects posed in extreme or “atomic” wedgies, where underwear is pulled above the head.

As an active participant in the scene, Fredrickson approaches the work as an insider. Many subjects volunteer through social media, making collaboration and consent central to the images. Shot largely from the dominant partner’s perspective, the photographs focus on the tension of the stretched garments and the sculptural form of the body, with the anonymous subjects often facing away from the camera.

Based in New York City and originally from Minneapolis, Fredrickson is known for photographing queer fetish subcultures. Wedgies is his first book.
